Pan-Africanism is a movement that seeks to strengthen solidarity among people of African descent around the world. It's a response to colonialism, imperialism, racism, and slavery.
Origins:
- Pan-Africanism emerged in the late 19th century as a response to the Berlin Conference of 1884/85
- The First Pan-African Conference was held in London in 1900
- The Fifth Pan-African Congress was held in Manchester in 1945
- Goals :Promote African unity, End colonialism and apartheid, Develop strategies to fight racial injustice and inequality, Promote human rights and people's democracy, and Empower people to transform governance institutions.
- Ideals Popular sovereignty, Non-indifference, Global solidarity, African socialism, and Embracing Africa's culture and common heritage.
- Impact : Pan-Africanism has had a profound impact on the national liberation struggle of the African people
